ION Member Organizations:

Charged for Boardroom Change

Established in 2004, ION is the national consortium of membership organizations whose mission is to increase the number of women appointed to corporate boards and the executive suite. Representing 8 major regions in the US and nearly half of the 28 million women working in management and professional roles across the nation, ION provides a forum where women’s leadership organizations can leverage best practices, share thought leadership and research, and expand our influence nationally in support of a common vision.

Through our annual research reports, the sharing of best practices, thought leadership and board search referrals, ION provides a national platform and voice for collaboration, education, advocacy, and outreach for the advancement of women across corporate America.

Who Are ION’s Members?

ION members are women’s leadership, professional development, educational and advocacy organizations located in the US. From New England to the Mountain States, these membership organizations work at the ground level to promote women’s advancement into leadership roles in businesses in their communities.

What Makes ION Different?

ION reaches across organizational differences and agendas to stimulate collaborative action within its own ranks and in partnership with other like-minded groups. ION can connect and rally disparate organizations to provide a national platform and voice for collaboration, education, advocacy and outreach for the advancement of women across corporate America and to influence collective approaches to positive change.

With an expanding local presence and strong national reach, ION and its partners affect real, collaborative change in communities across the United States: relationship by relationship, company by company, city by city, state by state.

How Does ION Accomplish Its Mission?

We Collaborate: ION members participate in collaborative research initiatives, including our annual benchmarking report highlighting the work of our organizations at the regional level as well as other special topics of interest.

We Convene: ION holds a biennial summit during which member organizations share and learn from each other through best practices presentations and discussions of issues common among all in pursuit of advancing women in order to leverage the success of one member organization across the base of all.

We Connect: ION remains current and up-to-date on the progress of women on boards globally from invited special participants and speakers who are renowned experts in the global movement to advance women. We also connect member organizations with academic and corporate researchers who are experts in their fields.

We Leverage: ION members share board search referrals throughout our network, significantly expanding the geographic reach and talent pool that can be tapped when any of our member organizations receives a request for female candidates for board service.

We Educate: ION maintains a data-rich website with information from a  multitude of resources working on women’s leadership and corporate governance issues.
