Boardbound by Women’s Leadership Foundation hosted a panel of Colorado business leaders who shared how they are addressing the COVID-19 crisis and relied on both the workforce and board diversity to help see companies, customers and communities to the other side.
In past recessions, diversity has faltered. And yet the organizations that maintained their diversity fared better before, during and after the economic crisis.

The Women’s Leadership Foundation of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce was on hand when Colorado’s General Assembly passed a legislative resolution (HJR 17-1017) calling for equitable and diverse gender representation on the boards of publicly held corporations headquartered in Colorado. The resolution was sponsored by Speaker of the House Crisanta Duran (D-5) and Rep. Lois Landgraf (R-21), and Senators Beth Martinez Humenik (R-24) and Nancy Todd (D-28).
Within the three-year period from January 2018 through December 2020, the resolution encourages companies with nine or more director seats to have a minimum of three women directors on Full Article

The Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce will celebrate five years of honoring Colorado’s most powerful and influential women in business on Thursday, January, 12, 2017, 5:00 – 9:00pm at the Marriott City Center.
The anniversary celebration and event will recognize the achievements of 25 women from the Denver-metro community who serve as role models for other business women for their accomplishments as leaders in business, visionaries, and groundbreakers who inspire others. Since 2013, one hundred women have been honored, and those women will be included in this fifth anniversary celebration.
The recent Skytop Strategies symposium on gender equality in the C-suite and boardroom included a roundtable discussion on the differences in potential vs. performance as it relates to how board candidates are evaluated by search firms and nominating committees. The discussion drew on the research that shows that women and men are often held to different standards in corporate settings, where women are evaluated on past performance while men are evaluated on future potential (Catalyst, 2011; Barsh, 2011).

On December 7th, The Boston Club held its annual Corporate Salute and celebrated the Club’s 40th anniversary. The event broke attendance records with 835 attendees and culminated in the declaration of January 2017 as Women’s Leadership Month by Governor Charlie Baker.
